Join us at 7:00PM on April 25, via Zoom for the Honors Program’s “Emerging Scholars” Series, a discussion with Kefas Lamak.

Kefas Lamak is a PhD Candidate in Religious Studies at the University of Iowa. His areas of research include African American History and Religious Studies and Religion in Africa. His publications in African American Religious Studies include “Religious Appropriation of the Slave Trade: Conversion in Christianity and Islam at the Dawn of Trans-Atlantic and Sub-Saharan Slavery” (Journal of Black Religious Thought, 2022) and “The Preslavery Praxis and Ethos of the Religion of West African People” (Journal of Religion in Africa, 2022).

In line with the Honors Program’s “Emerging Scholars” Series, Kefas will discuss both his research (more information about topic coming soon) and his academic path and experiences as a graduate student.
